1. Acceptance of These Terms

By browsing socialpetcare.com, subscribing to our newsletter, creating a community account, posting a comment, or otherwise using any part of the service (together, the “Service”), you’re confirming that you’ve read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions and by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. If you don’t agree with any part of these Terms, please don’t use the Service.

2. Eligibility & Accounts

SocialPetCare.com is a general-audience destination and is not directed at children under 13; see our Privacy Policy for details on how we handle children’s data. You must be at least 13 years old to create a community account, post a comment, or upload a photo. If you’re between 13 and 18 (or the age of legal majority where you live), you may only use the Service with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.

If you create an account, you’re responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential, for all activity that happens under your account, and for providing accurate registration information. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, misrepresent identity, or put the rest of the community at risk.

3. Amazon Affiliate Disclosure

socialpetcare.com is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.

As required by the Amazon Associates Program Operating Agreement: as an Amazon Associate, socialpetcare.com earns from qualifying purchases.

In plain terms: when you click certain product links, buttons, or images on socialpetcare.com — say, in a roundup of the best harnesses for a senior dog, or a guide to enrichment toys for an indoor cat — and you go on to buy that item (or, in many cases, anything else during that same Amazon shopping session), Amazon pays us a small commission. This costs you nothing extra; the price you pay is exactly the same whether you click our link or navigate to Amazon on your own.

We only feature products our team genuinely believes are useful to pet owners. Commission eligibility never decides which products we choose to write about, and our reviews and recommendations reflect our own editorial judgment.

We may also participate in other affiliate or partner programs from time to time; where we do, we’ll disclose that relationship in the same spirit of transparency.

4. Editorial Content Is Not Veterinary Advice

Everything you read on socialpetcare.com — breed guides, nutrition explainers, training tips, and community members’ personal stories about their own pets — is provided for general informational and educational purposes only. Our writers, contributors, and community members are pet enthusiasts, not (unless specifically identified and credentialed) licensed veterinarians. Nothing on this site is a diagnosis, a prescription, or a substitute for an in-person examination by a qualified veterinary professional.

Every pet is different, and something that worked well for a member of our community may not be appropriate — and could even be harmful — for your animal. Always consult a licensed veterinarian before making decisions about your pet’s diet, medication, vaccinations, or treatment plan, and before changing any veterinary care your pet already receives.

If your pet is experiencing a medical emergency — such as difficulty breathing, suspected poisoning, seizures, or acute trauma — contact your veterinarian or an emergency animal hospital immediately. Don’t wait on a reply from our community or rely on anything found on this site in an emergency.

5. Intellectual Property & User-Generated Content

Our Content

Unless otherwise credited, the articles, guides, illustrations, and overall design of socialpetcare.com belong to SocialPetCare.com or our licensors and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You’re welcome to link to our articles, or quote a short excerpt with clear attribution and a link back to the original page. What you may not do, without our prior written permission, is republish, mirror, or systematically scrape our articles — in whole or in substantial part — including through bots, crawlers, or other automated tools, for use on another website, in a dataset, or in any commercial product.

Content You Share With Us

When you post a comment, upload a photo of your pet, or otherwise submit content to our community features (“User Content”), you keep ownership of it. By submitting it, though, you grant SocialPetCare.com a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, transferable license to host, display, reproduce, and distribute that User Content in connection with operating and promoting the Service — for example, featuring a reader’s rescue-dog photo in a roundup post. You confirm that you own the content you upload, or have permission to share it, and that doing so doesn’t infringe anyone else’s rights.

We may remove or decline to display any User Content, at our discretion, particularly where it violates the community guidelines below.

6. Community Guidelines & Prohibited Conduct

Our community works because people are kind to each other and to the animals we’re all here to talk about. When using the Service, you agree not to:

  • Harass, threaten, or demean other members, or post hate speech of any kind;
  • Post spam, unauthorized advertising, or solicitations;
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with anyone;
  • Share content that promotes or depicts animal cruelty or neglect;
  • Present unverified claims as established medical fact, particularly around pet health or treatment;
  • Post content that infringes someone else’s intellectual property or privacy rights;
  • Use bots, scrapers, or other automated means to collect data from the Service or reproduce our content; or
  • Attempt to circumvent the security or access controls of the Service.

We may remove content, issue warnings, or suspend or terminate accounts that violate these guidelines, at our discretion and without prior notice where circumstances warrant it.

7. Advertising & Third-Party Links

SocialPetCare.com is supported in part by advertising served through Google AdSense and potentially other advertising networks. These ads are selected by automated, third-party systems; we don’t individually create or vet each ad that appears on our pages. We don’t endorse, and aren’t responsible for, the content, accuracy, or the products or services offered in any third-party advertisement, or on any external website you reach by clicking an ad, banner, or link on our site.

The same applies to outbound links to Amazon.com and other retailers described in Section 3: once you leave socialpetcare.com, your interaction with that third-party site is governed entirely by that site’s own terms and privacy practices, not by ours.

8. Limitation of Liability & Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Service — including all articles, community content, and product recommendations — is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We don’t guarantee that any product mentioned, reviewed, or linked on socialpetcare.com, including through an Amazon affiliate link, will be suitable, safe, or effective for your particular pet. You’re solely responsible for evaluating a product before you buy or use it, including reviewing manufacturer safety guidance and, where relevant, checking with your veterinarian first. We’re not the manufacturer or seller of any third-party product referenced on this site, and any warranty claim, return, or product-safety concern should go to the applicable retailer or manufacturer directly.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SocialPetCare.com and its owners, employees, and contributors won’t be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits or data, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service — even if we’ve been advised of the possibility of such damages. Where liability can’t be fully excluded under applicable law, our total liability to you for any claim relating to these Terms or the Service is limited to one hundred US dollars (US$100), or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, whichever is greater (noting that access to socialpetcare.com is generally free of charge).

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SocialPetCare.com, its owners, employees, and contributors from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your breach of these Terms, your User Content, or your violation of any law or any right of a third party.

10. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of [Insert Your State/Country of Incorporation], without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in [Insert Your County/State], except where applicable law grants consumers a mandatory right to a different venue. Before pursuing formal action, we encourage you to contact us at team@socialpetcare.com so we can try to resolve the issue informally first.

11. General Provisions

  • Changes to these Terms: We may update these Terms from time to time. We’ll revise the “Last Updated” date above, and continued use of the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the revised Terms.
  • Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force.
  • Entire agreement: These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, make up the entire agreement between you and SocialPetCare.com regarding the Service, and supersede any earlier agreements on the same subject.
  • No waiver: Our failure to enforce any part of these Terms at any time doesn’t waive our right to enforce it later.
  • Assignment: We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets; you may not assign your rights under these Terms without our written consent.
